Its scale is impressive in every direction—height, width, and depth. The museum also features colorful digital art and visually striking exhibits throughout the building.
A Gigantic Exhibition Space
At the heart of Edo stood Nihonbashi, the famous bridge that served as the center of the city. Soon after entering the exhibition area, visitors find themselves crossing a full-scale, 50-meter-long reconstruction of the Edo-period Nihonbashi Bridge.Another highlight is the full-scale reconstruction of the Hattori Clock Shop from the Meiji era. Yes, it is the predecessor of today’s famous Ginza Wako building, one of the most recognizable landmarks not only in Ginza, but in all of Tokyo.
Immersive Hands-On Experience
One of the museum’s greatest attractions is that you don’t just look at the exhibits—you become part of them. Enjoy taking photos as if you’ve traveled through time. Noripy became a sushi chef one moment and a fish peddler the next, and more!
Stylish Spaces
The beauty of the museum extends beyond the exhibition galleries. The ceilings, benches, and architectural details throughout the building are thoughtfully designed and worth admiring.
Foodie’s Delight!
Ryogoku is packed with excellent dining options, but this time I opted for the museum restaurant.
A healthy steamed dish of Wagyu beef and vegetables was just what I needed. Noripy left with a big smile!
