The summer of 2024 is in full swing with the excitement of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris. Meanwhile, Tokyo’s National Stadium, which played a pivotal role during the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and Paralympics, has its own story to tell today. Let’s take a look at what it’s like now.

National Stadium

Designed by Kuma Kengo, who uses a lot of wood.
Noripy often accesses the National Stadium by strolling through the ginkgo tree-lined avenue of Meiji Jingu Gaien (Outer garden of Meiji Shrine).
The stands, colored in five earth tones, give the impression of being filled with spectators when seen from a distance, even if they are empty.

Large roof

Cedar from all over Japan (pine in Okinawa) is used.

Exhibitions and Interior Tour

For a fee, you can take a tour and explore the interior of the stadium.

VIP Zone

It’s not a place you can usually enter, but I got a glimpse of the VIP rooms and areas where you can directly interact with the athletes. Noripy, sitting happily in the VIP seats.

Sora no Mori (Sky Forest)

Located in the upper level. Take a walk around, and you can enjoy a 360-degree view of Tokyo’s landscape.

Standing on the Field

When you actually stand on the field with your own feet, you will feel as if you are a track and field athlete.

Memories of Noripy

Three years have passed since then… The Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, which were postponed for the first time in history and held in 2021. Noripy (far right in the picture) participated as a volunteer for the event.

Foodie’s Delight!

An Italian restaurant inside the Mitsui Garden Hotel, right near the Sendagaya Gate. Once in a while, it’s nice to enjoy a leisurely course meal. Noripy savored dishes that highlighted the natural flavors of the ingredients and ended with an adorable dessert.
Foodie, satisfied!
