Bookstore Town

Books, books, and more books! Secondhand shops everywhere you look, each with its own theme spilling out onto the sidewalks. Some buildings even have several bookstores inside—what a surprise! From serious specialty shops that feel a bit intimidating to larger stores where you can even pick up little souvenirs, Jimbocho truly deserves its nickname as Tokyo’s “secondhand book district.”

Access

Getting to Jimbocho is easy! Three subway lines cross here—the Tokyo Metro Hanzomon Line, the Toei Shinjuku Line, and the Toei Mita Line—making it a super convenient stop on your Tokyo journey.

Curry Battleground

“Bondy,” “Gavial”… countless famous curry spots are packed into this neighborhood. Our target was Bondy, the winner of the first Kanda Curry Grand Prix. But wow—the line was insanely long! Luckily, right next door we spotted Bondy’s sister restaurant, Jimbou. A sign promised that Bondy’s curry is served here at lunchtime…!

Strolling Through Booktown

Noripy spotted a few tempting cafes along the way—definitely on the list for next time!
Bookstores here offer plenty of surprises. At Shosen Grande, it’s not just manga and anime—railway fans will love the special goods corner too.

Foodie’s Delight!

Bondy’s sister restaurant, Jimbou, has a beautiful bonsai displayed at the entrance. Since Noripy loves bonsai… well, that sounds like a nice excuse. The truth is, Noripy was simply too hungry to stand in the long line! Since Jimbou also serves Bondy’s famous curry at lunchtime, the choice was easy.
Noripy went for the chicken curry.
Foodie, satisfied!
