Arisugawa-no-miya Memorial Park

The autumn leaves, at their peak, were stunningly beautiful. In the distance, you can catch a glimpse of the top of Roppongi Hills Mori Tower.
Originally a feudal lord’s residence during the Edo period, it became an imperial estate in the Meiji era.

A Neighborhood with Many Embassies

Directly across from the main entrance of Arisugawa Park stands a large supermarket called “National,” a popular shopping spot for many foreign residents in the area. Heading up Nanbu-zaka (Nanbu Hill), you’ll find the German Embassy right next to the supermarket. This neighborhood is home to many embassies.
It’s also known for its many bakeries. On the corner of Gaien-Nishi Avenue, there’s a popular bakery that often has long lines.

Hiroo Shopping Street

Starting from the Meidi-ya supermarket, the street is lined with a variety of shops. One of Noripy’s favorites is “Miya”, a former sushi restaurant that now serves delicious fish-based meals. It’s a popular dining spot, even among foreigners. The traditional public bathhouse, Hiroo-yu, is still going strong in this area.

Hiroo Inari Shrine

On a quiet backstreet leading from the French Embassy toward Hiroo Station, you’ll find Hiroo Inari Shrine, which has a history of about 400 years. Though it stands quietly, it is a shrine deeply cherished by the local community.

Hiroo Station (Hibiya Line)

Hiroo Station on the Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line is located along Gaien-Nishi Avenue.

University of the Sacred Heart, Tokyo

Hiroo is home to the main campus of this university. Building No.4 was previously the office of the Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers (JOCV).

Chic Café

While exploring the quiet backstreets of a residential area in Minami-Azabu, I discovered a charming café. With its hidden and sophisticated ambiance, it’s the perfect place to unwind and find a moment of peace.

Foodie’s Delight

Today’s lunch at home features ready-made dishes from the deli at Meidi-ya super market.  When things get busy and there’s little time to cook, Meidi-ya’s prepared foods are a lifesaver. The potato salad here is perfectly seasoned.
Foodie, satisfied!
