Ginza 4-Chome Intersection

The face of Ginza is undoubtedly the iconic clock tower of Ginza WAKO, standing tall at the Ginza 4-Chome intersection. And of course, the clock is by SEIKO. Ginza Street is home to many long-established shops, adding to its timeless charm.
Near this intersection, some of the places I frequently visit include Mitsukoshi Department Store, the historic Kimuraya bakery, known as the birthplace of Anpan, and Kyukyodo, a shop specializing in traditional Japanese stationery and accessories.
As for Motoki, a store specializing in men’s fashion, it holds a special place in my youthful memories. About 50 years ago (wow!), I discovered this shop while following my favorite drummer at the time, Makoto Aihara from Downtown Boogie Woogie Band. Those were the days!

Depachika

The place I visit most often in Mitsukoshi Department Store?
Of course, it’s Depachika, the basement food market!

Pedestrian Paradise

On weekends and public holidays, Ginza Chuo-dori becomes a pedestrian-only zone in the afternoon. Chairs are set up under parasols, allowing people to relax. Tourists also enjoy strolling around and taking photos.

SHISEIDO

This is where Shiseido was founded in 1872. Enjoying tea time or a meal at Shiseido Parlour (café and restaurant) is a dream experience. Across Hanatsubaki-doriShiseido The Store (which sells cosmetics and more) also catches the eye with its striking design.

Whisky Museum

Among souvenirs from a trip to Japan, Japanese whisky is very popular. If you’re looking for something specific, you’re almost certain to find it at the Whisky Museum in Ginza.

Café Paulista

A famous café where John Lennon and Yoko Ono came for coffee three days in a row.

GSIX

Ginza Six (GSIX) is a shopping complex where many luxury brand stores are gathered in one place. Once inside, you can enjoy a space that feels like an art museum.

Shops That Catch Your Eye

YAMAHA, home to Yamaha Hall where you can relax with music, itoya, a specialty stationery store where you can find stylish items, and UNIQLO, offering affordable everyday clothing—something unimaginable in the old Ginza image—are just a few of the notable spots.
On the first floor of Ginza LION, which was once a beer hall exclusively for the U.S. military right after World War II, you can still enjoy a nostalgic retro atmosphere.

Foodie’s Delight

Even as a devoted green tea lover, I absolutely love the coffee jelly at Café Paulista
When feeling tired, I enjoy it with a generous amount of cream—delicious!
Foodie, satisfied!
